Timed 5k (Handicap) for the Toy Appeal

Wednesday 22nd November, saw 42 of our Run Knutsford members participate in a timed 5k run (for anyone who knows Vicky our wonderful leader…5k was really 5.34k) and to collect donations for The Toy Appeal…there were also some rather nice cakes provided by members to congratulate us all at the end!!

The club organises timed 5k routes on a regular basis and each runner is given a start time based on their previous finishing time. The first runner sets off at 7.30pm and then each runner heads off at their allotted time. The purpose of the run is to beat your last time and overtake as many runners in front of you as possible. As you can imagine it brings an element of competition to our weekly run.

The race kicked off at Egerton Sports Club and the club members took on a pleasant route down King Street and through the town, finishing back at the sports club…where there was cake!!!

Pictured below are the winners Adam & Rachel proudly receiving their prizes from Colin – who started the race 21 minutes after the first runner!

This timed event was also to collect donations for The Toy Appeal and every member was more than generous and we collected quite a pile of games, craft items and soft toys for the appeal on Monday 11th December.

On the night we were also lucky enough to hear some tips and tricks to keep our bodies in peak condition with tips on nutrition, stretching and some other great ideas from Lily & Connie of Peak Posture.

A huge thanks to all that took part and below the times for all the runners.

If you are interested in joining Run Knutsford you can enquire on the website or meet us at one of our three locations – first session is free!
