Here is an alternative suggestion for Wednesday eve. Please can you email runknutsford@gmail.com (or comment on FB post) if you plan to do this -or would rather do a normal interval session so I can plan accordingly. You can run in your own or with a partner / small group for 60 or 90 mins. You do need to register to order a map - so please do this ASAP.

MDOC countryside score event will use the footpaths and tracks around Lower Peover, based at The Crown, a simple community pub situated at Swan Green (WA16 9QB), at a junction on the B5081 about 4 miles SSW of Knutsford town centre, half a mile SW of The Bells of Peover.

It has about 40 parking spaces - please park tidily within the (faintly) marked spaces.

This area is quite flat and features several small ponds. Some of the area is used for dairy farming (please don’t upset the cattle!) and some for cereal crops. But there are also several privateroads (shown in white on the map and out of bounds to competitors) which serve the underlying brine fields, some of which are now used for gas storage. This has led to a variety of unusual man-made features above ground. Some of the small hut structures are mapped, and very un-usefully, some not.

Registration from 6.30 and start at 7.00 pm.

Run for 60 or 90 minutes and find as many of the checkpoints as possible using an extract from an OS Map, footpaths, lanes and quiet roads, answering simple questions at each checkpoint.

More info is posted here. Parking is at the pub and in the surrounding streets, if you use these please park considerately. Return to the pub within your chosen run time to avoid penalties and then compare routes with other runners. Under 16s must be accompanied. Dogs must be on leads please. PLEASE - if you come across livestock, even if they are on a footpath, be prepared to slow to a walk and avoid scaring them.
